She has said that becoming an American citizen was one of the most important achievements in her life. Barbara Perez came to the US from Guatemala at age 11, and had to work her way through school...and life itself. She managed to get an undergraduate degree in education, and taught school for 7 years before commencing on her dream to be an attorney. After graduating with her law degree, she ultimately opened her own firm, helping people gain legal status as immigrants. Hers is a story of faith and inspiration.
