Regarding the contemporary Christian music scene in the 70s, a force to be reckoned with was Thurlow Spurr, who is a true pioneer in the genre. His touring groups (The Spurrlows and "Festival of Praise") were very popular and influential, not only in the development of this style of music, but also in the growing genre of worship music. Today, at age 87, Thurlow is still going strong, and producing a major event at Calvary Orlando this coming December.
